Control of Volunteer Enlist Corn in Enlist E3 Soybean

Recent development of Enlist corn allows the use 2,4-D choline (Enlist One), glyphosate (Roundup PowerMax), glufosinate (Liberty), and aryloxyphenoxypropionate (FOPs) herbicides for controlling grass broadleaf weeds. However, volunteer plants can cause infestation in subsequent E3 soybean (resistant to 2,4-D, glyphosate, glufosinate) areas where a corn-soybean rotation is commonly practiced. The main objective this research was determine effectiveness cyclohexanedione (DIMs) alone or tank-mixtures with One control soybean. A field study conducted 2020 growing season at Kansas State University Agricultural Research Center (KSUARC) near Hays, KS. hybrid DKC62-53 planted 17,420 seeds/a on May 13, 2020. variety P30T92E 152,000 perpendicular direction 20, Herbicide treatments, including clethodim (Select Max) sethoxydim (Poast Plus) were tested as early POST (EPOST, 8- 12-inch tall corn), late postemergence (POST) (12- 30-inch corn). Results indicated that Select Max applied EPOST provided an excellent, season-long (95 99%) highest biomass reduction (up 100%) significantly reduced when tankmixed Poast Plus. Volunteer low moderate (50–85%) all (LPOST) programs tested. Soybean grain yield did not differ among treatments (39 44 bu/a), while lower (~ 34 bu/a) LPOST treatments. These results suggested application Plus effectively E3soybean. adding could compromise efficacy herbicide.
